Mining.com.au: Cyprium’s copper restart gets a technical spark

Cyprium Metals (ASX:CYM) has appointed Christofer Catania as Chief Technical Officer to accelerate development of the Nifty Copper Complex in Western Australia.

Catania most recently served as Senior VP of Global Resources at Worley (ASX:WOR), where he led large‑scale technical, operational, and strategic resource initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.

He was also previously CEO of technical advisory firm MEC Mining and chief engineer for KAZ Minerals.

Catania currently serves as a director of Emesent, a technology company that provides mobile LiDAR mapping solutions.

The company says that Catania’s technical expertise, strategic leadership, and industry experience will ‘play a key role in supporting Cyprium’s next phase of growth’.

“As the competent person on our 2024 Nifty PFS and lead engineer on our Heap Leach restart plans, Chris is well familiar with the Cyprium team and our plans for the Nifty Copper Complex,” Cyprium Metals Executive Chairman Matt Fifield says.

“Having him in‑house has allowed us to accelerate all phases of planning, enhance our internal and external reporting and communications, and strengthen our technical foundation as we […] continue to build Australia’s next great copper company.”

Cyprium is focused on the phased restart of the Nifty Copper Complex in the Paterson region.

The project previously produced significant copper from oxide and sulphide resources and benefits from significant invested capital, a long operating history, large‑scale resources, current operational approvals, and recent investment in the property.

Cyprium Metals also holds significant copper‑focused properties in the Paterson and Murchison Provinces, including multiple defined resources.

The company will be attending the Noosa Mining Conference, held on 22–24 July 2026 at Peppers Noosa Resort, Noosa Heads, Queensland.
